2007 Aeromil Pacific Classic Adelaide Rally

Since it was first run in 1997, the Aeromil Pacific Classic Adelaide has become one of the world's great rallies. It is Australia's foremost international tarmac rally for classic sporting vehicles. Last year the Aeromil Pacific Classic Adelaide celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Over twenty antique and classic aircraft fly-in to Parafield for the day and perform regular fly pasts in front of Classic Jets Fighter museums hangar.

2007 Australian International Airshow

The Australian International Air Show is the largest and most comprehensive air show and aerospace exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere.

The theme of the 2007 airshow (held between 20-25 March) was "Breaking the Barriers", as it was the 60th anniversary of the breaking of the sound barrier by Chuck Yeager (who himself was the guest of honour at the show).

There were approximately 1,000 aircraft on display, including more than 40 Australian Defence Force aircraft. It was also the 60th year of the United States Air Force, which participated with a large contingent of aircraft.

Despite poor weather, with rain over much of the weekend, the airshow saw over 200,000 spectators attend.

Northern Lights

One of the main attractions of the 2008 Fringe Festival was the "Northern Lights" display. The display created by the 'Electric Artists', consisted of historic architectural icons along North Terrace being 'painted with light and coloured with life'.

2008 Clipsal 500

The Clipsal 500 Adelaide, running from 21 to 24 February is round one of the V8 Supercar Championship Series. It is Australia’s largest domestic motor sport event. The 2008 event was attended by a massive crowd of 291,400 patrons over the four days.

During the event, there is a significant aviation presence in the form of both helicopter joy rides and military flybys. These aircraft are depicited here.

2004 Termora Airshow

The goal of the Temora Aviation Museum is to collect and maintain in airworthy condition, historical military aircraft types flown by or in conjunction with Australian military forces. The Museum was established in 1999 by Sydney businessman Mr David Lowy AM, an Australian Aerobatic Champion and airshow pilot. Flying Displays of the Museum's aircraft are conducted regularly by the Temora Historic Flight Club (THFC).

The Temora Display of 2004 was almost brought to a halt by a plague of locusts that swept over the region. Luckily not everthing was grounded. The Navy Squirrel demonstration team had 'bug catchers' over their air intakes and thus were still able to fly.

Evo/GSR Track Day: Mallala Motor Sport Park

The Mitsubishi Evo/GSR club held a track day on March 9th, 2008 at Mallala Raceway, South Australia. Despite the temperature reaching over 39°C (and closer to 60°C on track), the day saw a large turnout of vehicles. There were a range of Mitsubishi Evolutions represented from the venerable Evo 5 all the way to the latest Evo 10. Towards the end of the day several Porches, a Skyline, Monaro and Caterham 7 also saw an appearance.

2008 Tour Down Under

The Tour Down Under is the first stop in World Cycling after being granted UCI ProTour status - the first race outside of Europe to be given this ranking. Elite international athletes race around South Australia over a week in January in a bid to win the right to wear the Ochre Leaders Jersey. The 2008 Tour Down Under was held from 20 – 27 January
